Community Medicine
INTRODUCTION
The Department of Community Medicine plays a pivotal role in the healthcare system, focusing on the promotion of health and the prevention of diseases within populations. It integrates medical and social sciences to address public health challenges, emphasizing the importance of health education, epidemiology, disease prevention, and policy development. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the department aims to improve community health outcomes by identifying risk factors, implementing intervention strategies, and promoting health equity. Additionally, it trains healthcare professionals in preventive medicine, empowering them to understand and address the broader determinants of health, ensuring better quality of life for communities.
The curriculum is designed to brace the students with the clinical significance of learning the subject. The subject is delivered through

Prof. Dr. Iram Manzoor
Prof. Dr. Iram Manzoor did her MBBS in 1999 from Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore. She then did FCPS Community Medicine from Fellowship of College of Physician & Surgeons, Pakistan. After that she achieved her M. Sc Women & Gender Issues from Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad. Later she earned her MCPS_ HPE-Medical education from College of Physician & Surgeons, Pakistan. Her most recent accomplishment is PhD Public Health-Institute of Social & Cultural studies, Punjab University, Lahore. She has taught in various districts and teaching hospitals i.e. International vocational Training & education Center, Women Health Project Punjab, Fatima Memorial Hospital, Medical & Dental College and Lahore Medical & Dental College, Lahore as a demonstrator, associate professor and professor. Presently she is working as Professor Community Medicine & Director Medical Education at Akhtar Saeed Medical & Dental College, Lahore.
