Dr Zenab Sarfraz graduated with honours from Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine, Karachi in 2006. She did her six months house job in Paedriatic Dentistry from The Children’s Hospital , Lahore followed by a six month house job from deMontmorency Dental College/Punjab Dental Hospital from 2007-2008.From 2008-2009 she worked at Shaikh Zayed Hospital in the department of dentistry as ‘Senior House officer’ where she was not only involved in handling clinical procedures , but also part of the IADSR team and actively participated in arranging International and National conferences and workshops. She did her Post graduation with distinction in Science of Dental Biomaterials from Post Graduate Medical Institute Lahore in 2012. Her profound interest in multidisciplinary translational research lead to her journey at IRCBM as a Clinical Research Associate, from 19th Feb 2013 till 1ST Dec 2015. During her tenure, she was part of various projects that involved laboratory synthesis of dental materials by reverse engineering and novel techniques. These projects got published in various peer reviewed international journals. She also got the chance to assist M.Phil. Dental Material and MSC Materials Engineering students in coursework and research work. Apart from managing research projects, she was also in-charge of Departmental news/write ups for COMSATS University newsletter. She was part of the faculty team building programs there as well as various PADR conferences that took place under the umbrella of IRCBM,COMSATS ,Lahore. After receiving her M.Phil degree from UHS, she ventured into academia to grasp the prospect of being involved in lifelong active teaching through opportunity of being offered a job as Assistant Professor and Head of Dental Materials department at Akhtar Saeed Medical & Dental College .Since then she has been involved in teaching and mentoring 2nd year BDS students in Dental Materials. She has been affiliated with the University of Health Sciences, Lahore as Examiner, Paper assessor, and paper setter for BDS as well as M.Phil since 2016. She is also part of the College Curriculum committee after acquiring a Certificate in Medical Teaching (CMT) from UHS in 2019 to acquaint herself with the latest teaching and assessment methodologies and innovations. She also heads the Sports and Media Committee of the Dental College as she has enjoyed writing and reporting since her school days. In December 2020, she got promoted to Associate Professor based on her academic experience and dedication towards her field. Her interest is not limited to teaching only as she has various research articles to her name as mentioned in her resume. Her achievements include her contribution in 2 books as author of ‘’DENTAL MATERIALS. Principal and Applications” and in ‘’Planet of Orthodontics” Vol 1and Vol 3 ,1st edition 2022. Her areas of research include Regenerative dentistry , Artificial Intelligence in Biomaterials ,Smart Biomaterials and uses of indigenous fillers in prosthetic and restorative materials.
